Kuala Lumpur, 10March 2020: KESM Industries Berhad (Bursa Securities: KESM), the largest independent burn-in and test service provider,today reported its unaudited financial results for the first six months ended 31 January 2020.

For the first six months of FY2020, revenue dipped by 14percent to RM140.5 million from RM162.7million in the previous corresponding period of 2019.

Nonetheless, half-year profit before tax increased to RM9.4million from RM5.4million as compared to the corresponding period last year. At the close, net profit increased two-fold to RM6.4millionfrom RM3.1million.

Mr. Sam Lim, Executive Chairman & Chief Executive Officer remarked, “Last year, KESM felt the impact of the on-going U.S. and China trade war, as customers reduced volume loadings for burn-in and test services in our facilities in Malaysia and China.

However,to counter the weaker market environment, we acted swiftly in focusing on cost management. We took controlled measures to manage our production costs and supply expenses to improve our profitability. We are pleased with theresult.”

According to leading semiconductor market research firm, the world-wide semiconductor revenue was expected to reach USD418.3 billion in 2019, a dip of 11.9 percent from USD474.6 billion a year ago.

Mr. Lim added, “We entered the second half of FY2020 with a jolt to the implications of COVID-19. The spread of the coronavirus has disrupted our production in China. Nevertheless we are focusing our efforts to catch up on customers’ expanded production backlogs as well as to ensure the safety and well-beingof all our employees and business associates.”
